'Religion and Republic' Collegium Lecture with Miles Smith.

Drawing from his 2024 book, Religion and Republic, Dr. Smith will discuss the protestant doctrine of vocation, and how important it is for how we practice politics.

This lecture will be followed by a panel discussion with NCF Faculty members as well as an audience Q&A and reception with light refreshments.

Miles Smith is assistant professor of history at Hillsdale College. His academic interests are in the intellectual and religious history of the Atlantic World and the American South in the 19th century. He is the author of three books—Religion and Republic: Christian America from the Founding to the Civil War, That Blessed Liberty: Episcopal Bishops and the Development of the American Republic 1789-1860, and a forthcoming book on Protestantism and the Early Republic US Military. He writes regularly in popular and semi-popular outlets. He is married to Jaime, and grew up in Salisbury, North Carolina.
